Prison ordered for sleeping driver on Highway 2

NEBRASKA CITY – Alexander Banner, 38, of Lincoln was sentenced in Otoe County to three years in prison for resisting arrest and a year for possession of cocaine on Sept. 8.

An Otoe County Sheriff’s Office affidavit says deputies were dispatched to Highway 2 near Unadilla and found a diver asleep with a female passenger awake while the vehicle was parked in a driving lane.

The affidavit says Banner was wakened, but lunged at deputies while making threats. Deputies say Banner attempted to pull a deputy’s gun from a holster while he was being put in a patrol car…
