The University of Nebraska-Lincoln said Tuesday that it has started notifying faculty and staff who will be losing their jobs as part of plan to eliminate four departments.
In an email sent to students, faculty and staff, interim UNL Chancellor Katherine Ankerson did offer one bit of good news to faculty members losing their jobs in the departments of earth and atmospheric sciences; educational administration; textiles, merchandising and fashion design; and statistics: They will be able to stay through the end of the 2026-2027 academic year.
“We are extending the faculty separation date to the end of the 2026-27 academic year to recognize the challenges of mid-year separations for faculty and avoid mid-year changes for students progressing toward degree completion,” Ankerson said in her email…
