Lincoln woman arrested after malnourished boy hospitalized

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lincoln Police Department arrested a Lincoln woman Thursday on suspicion of felony child abuse and other charges.

Investigators with LPD’s Special Victims Unit took 46-year-old Angela Lowe into custody at her home and booked her into the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of felony child abuse, first-degree assault and false imprisonment.

According to LPD, Lowe brought a 12-year-old boy in her care to a local emergency room on Jan. 12. A nurse reported possible child neglect to police, saying the child was significantly malnourished and too weak to lift himself up or speak.

The boy had a core body temperature of 80 degrees and weighed only 47 pounds. LPD said the average 12-year-old boy weighs about 90 pounds…
