LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -More than one hundred people trekked along an illuminated path at Antelope Park on Sunday for Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach’s annual “Shine The Light” walk.
The event is meant to raise awareness for the challenges faced by those experiencing unsheltered homelessness during the winter.
“We like it to be a little frigid and a little cold,” Alynn Sampson, the outreach’s executive director, said. “We can gain some empathy and compassion through that. There’s a lot of things that can happen when you’re unsheltered. There’s health issues, and things that accompany that. This was a way to honor them and we want people to take notice of that.”…
