Avoca Woman Dies Days After Being Hit by Truck Near Downtown Lincoln

LINCOLN–(KFOR Feb. 4)–An 88-year-old Avoca woman has died after she was hit by a vehicle in Lincoln last Saturday.

Lincoln Police say Joan Meyer passed away Wednesday and suffered, what were thought to have been, non-life threatening injuries when she was struck around 8:50am Saturday near 14th and “G” Streets.

LPD says their preliminary investigation shows 47-year-old Michael Hughes of Denton was driving his 2010 red Chevy Silverado pickup truck south on 14th Street and stopped at a stop sign just before the intersection. He attempted to turn left onto G Street and struck Meyer who was crossing the road in the crosswalk…
