Man caught with 35.2 pounds of fentanyl in Seward charged with fentanyl trafficking offense

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A man caught traveling with 35.2 pounds of fentanyl in Seward, Nebraska, in early January was charged with a fentanyl trafficking offense, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.

On Jan. 28, a grand jury in Hartford, Connecticut, returned an indictment charging 44-year-old Joseph Montanez of Wallingford, Connecticut, with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl. If convicted, Montanez could face 10 years to life in prison.
