Students react to the loss of J-term

This year, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln returned to its pre-pandemic calendar and removed the J-term, also known as the January term. Students had mixed opinions on the switch.

The J-term added an extra week to winter break, allowing students to earn credit by taking a shortened class before the spring semester began.

UNL originally implemented the J-term in 2021 as a response to COVID-19. The three-week session allowed students to meet their academic needs during a time of uncertainty and gave faculty a chance to earn more salary…
