On February 1, Lincoln residents gathered at pioneers park to learn from Jason “The Birdnerd” St. Sauver about winter birdwatching ahead of the 29th annual Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC). Conservationists all over the world are preparing for the GBBC, a community science project where participants spend 15 minutes a day counting birds.
The Great Backyard Bird Count takes place from February 13-16. The data uploaded by participants will create a global snapshot of bird populations, which helps conservationists know how best to allocate limited resources and funds.
