LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A dramatic shift in Nebraska’s weather pattern will bring winter conditions back to the state Thursday, with a winter storm expected to impact travel and outdoor plans across much of the region. Most of the travel impacts will be along and north of I-80 where the heaviest snowfall is expected through the day on Thursday.
Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in place across the northern half of the state through the day on Thursday, ending very early Friday morning for eastern parts of the state. It’s these areas that we are expecting the heaviest snow on Thursday.
Currently, Lincoln and Omaha are under no winter weather headlines – but that is certainly subject to change. There are still some question marks surrounding where the band of snow sets up – so Winter Weather Advisories may be upgraded to Winter Storm Warnings, and additional alerts may be issued into the day on Thursday when confidence in where that snow band sets up increases.
