After years of work, Lincoln’s Pershing Mural reinstallation project is almost ready

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Before the walls of downtown Lincoln’s historic Pershing auditorium were torn down, the 70-year-old mural displayed out front was spared, thanks to the efforts of several devoted admirers.

Lincoln native Liz Shea-McCoy said back in 2021 when she first heard about plans to demolish the building, which had been closed since 2014, she just kept thinking, “that couldn’t happen!”

Her passion sparked a project that has since raised the $4.1 Million needed to take the mural down, piece-by-piece, and soon move it to a display at Wyuka Cemetery…
