Snowstorm Triggers Highest Single-Day Crash Total in Lincoln Since 2020

Thursday’s snowfall led to a record-breaking number of crashes in Lincoln. “LPD responded to 95 crashes across the city on Thursday, which is the highest since December 2020 when we had 90 in a single day,” says Public Information Manager Erika Thomas.

“Keep in mind, these numbers do not account for other types of snow-related calls, including roadside assists and traffic hazards. It also does not include drivers who agreed to exchange information and not wait for an officer to respond so crash totals were in the triple digits.”

Thomas says the Lincoln Emergency Communications Center answered 834 calls in the four- hour window between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. during the height of the snowfall, dispatching calls for LPD, LSO, LFR and rural fire districts…
