Lincoln Teen Arrested for Fleeing from Police, Using Red and Blue Flashing Lights

LINCOLN–(KFOR Feb. 23)–An 18-year-old Lincoln man was arrested for several offenses between late Sunday night and early Monday morning, after he allegedly fled from Lincoln Police and flashed red and blue lights at police cruisers.

LPD public information manager Erika Thomas says an officer on patrol around 11:45pm Sunday in a marked cruiser saw a vehicle with no lights or license plates along South 9th Street. The officer pulled over Andrii Brychka, who was 17 on Sunday, but turned 18 as of midnight Monday. Thomas says Brychka had a broadcast out for disorderly vehicle and it had to be towed. As the officer was doing the investigation, Thomas says Brychka took off in his vehicle and going double the speed limit of 30 mph without headlights.

Then, shortly after 2am Monday, another officer was near 27th and Holdrege and saw a vehicle with red and blue flashing lights speed past their cruiser. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but Brychka sped off. He was also seen using those red and blue lights and doing circles and other officers didn’t pursue him for safety reasons…
