LINCOLN — Lincoln Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday near 50th and R Street. Police Chief Michon Morrow says an officer was sent to Office Depot for an alarm near the rear doors.
“When he arrived, the officer located a man inside a small access door behind the dumpster near the back dock,” Morrow says. “He gave verbal commands to the suspect, but he did not comply.” Morrow says the the suspect then threw a metal object before firing at the officer who returned fire.
Once other officers arrived and determined it was safe to approach, they immediately rendered first aid on the scene. “The 49-year-old Lincoln man was then taken to the hospital by Lincoln Fire & Rescue where he underwent surgery for multiple non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.” Morrow says the suspect was shot in the lower extremities and a handgun was recovered at the scene…
