When you shut them down in the circle and crush it at the plate, nice things happen to you.
When Hannah Camenzind made the trip to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with her Nebraska Cornhusker teammates, she probably had little idea what was in store for her out in the Palm Springs desert. Not that they play in the desert there. The Big League Dreams Sports Park’s three fields have backdrops behind the outfield fences which are designed to resemble parks such as Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium and Iowa’s Field of Dreams.
And not that Hannah is some bench warmer who exploded from nowhere. She plays left field and pitches and is at or near the top of the Huskers’ offensive leaders. But explode she did, both at the plate and in the circle, and in so doing, she turned the Nutter into her Field of Dreams for three days and brought home some hardware to show for it.
A few days after she returned to Lincoln, she found out first she was the recipient of the Big 10 Pitcher of the Week award and then received national recognition as Softball on SI named her their Co-Player of the Week…
