Lightbulb sculpture sent off to be restored after vandalization at Lincoln elementary school

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A lightbulb sculpture located outside a Lincoln elementary school has been sent off to be restored eight months after it was destroyed in an act of vandalism.

On June 7, 2025, Lincoln Police received a report of the damage outside Humann Elementary School, located near 40th Street and Pine Lake Road.

Police believe the structure was vandalized sometime overnight on June 6, 2025. Officers were unable to find any surveillance video from the area.

The lightbulbs are a part of the Illuminating Lincoln project. They were created by local artists and then placed all around Lincoln to celebrate the anniversary of The Lighthouse, a community program that has helped kids for the past 35 years…
