Governor’s Mansion hosts Lincoln Public Schools on Nebraska Teacher Recognition Day

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Teachers, parents, students and more, were wiping away tears Tuesday morning at the Governor’s Mansion during Lincoln Public Schools’ annual Thank You Teacher celebration.

Governor Pillen and LPS Superintendent John Skretta gave opening remarks before recognizing this year’s nominees. Five teachers were honored, ranging in their respective categories from early education in preschool, all the way up to a retired educator.

Students or their parents read off each of their own nomination letters, their teachers honored by hearing them out loud for the first time. It was followed by speeches from those teachers…
