LPS high schools practice archery skills in lighthearted tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -Eight Lincoln Public Schools high schools competed for the first time in a friendly archery tournament Wednesday morning at the Turpin Outdoor Education Center.

The competition followed the completion of an archery unit in LPS physical education classes. Nebraska Game and Parks helped support the unit by providing students with training and equipment.

Matt Avey, curriculum specialist for health and physical education at LPS, said integrating target games into lifetime sports and outdoor adventures classes is intended to benefit students beyond their school years…
