A Lincoln man is accused of leaving a trail of destruction after three churches were vandalized late last month. LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says it began February 28 just after 6:45 p.m. when officers responded to a burglary in progress at First Christian Church near 16th and K Street.
“Two exterior stained glass mural windows were smashed, and the front door was broken, for total estimated damages of $20,000,” Thomas says. Less than 10 minutes later, another officer responded to the F Street Church at 13th and F Street . Two front glass doors were found shattered and large landscaping bricks were seen among the broken glass, causing approximately $1,000 in damage,” Thomas says.
Officers found the suspect, 27-year-old Nigel Cummings of Lincoln, who was seen on video and arrested him. Officers also located a vehicle that had been vandalized, with damage to the front passenger window and a concrete retaining wall brick inside, causing $500 in damage…
