30-40 vehicles involved in crash on I-80 near Greenwood, according to sheriff’s office

GREENWOOD, Neb. (KOLN) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says 30-40 vehicles were involved in an accident on I-80 near Greenwood.

Several agencies were called to the scene Sunday afternoon around 2:40 p.m., including the Nebraska State Patrol, Greenwood, Ashland, Eagle, Elmwood, Murray, Weeping Water, Manley, Gretna, Waverly, Ceresco, Raymond, Cass County EMA and Southeast Fire & Rescue.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the incident began as a three-vehicle crash and then continued to escalate, involving passenger vehicles and semi-trucks, all within a 20 minute timeframe…
