Record high temperatures Friday and Saturday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Near record high temperatures are possible for some locations today. Record-breaking heat will dominate Friday and Saturday. Critical fire weather conditions continue in part of Western Nebraska today.

Warming Trend Continues

Today is going to be mainly sunny with temperatures climbing into the 80s this afternoon. Northwest winds becoming southwest at 5 to 15 mph. Wind gusts up to 25 mph are possible in part of Western Nebraska and the panhandle.

Red Flag Warning in effect for part of Western Nebraska from Noon to 8pm CDT today. Part of the panhandle remains under a Red Flag Warning until Saturday evening as critical fire weather conditions remain in place.

Clouds will increase late this afternoon and evening in the eastern half of the area. Those clouds should then dissipate or move out late tonight.

Record Heat Expected Friday & Saturday

Friday will be mainly sunny and very warm with high temperatures in the mid 80s to low 90s. Several locations look to set new record high temperatures for March 20th.

Saturday brings even more heat. It will be mainly sunny with high temperatures in the 90s. Several March all-time record highs could be set across Nebraska on Saturday, including Lincoln.
