Record-breaking heat gives way to dramatic cool down

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln made history Saturday with an all-time March high temperature of 97 degrees, shattering the previous record of 91 degrees set in 2012. But the summer-like conditions will be short-lived as a strong cold front moves through overnight, bringing dramatic changes to the forecast.

Sunday will feel like a completely different season, with temperatures plummeting back into the 50s and 60s — more in line with typical March weather. The transition won’t be gentle either. Winds will pick up significantly overnight into Sunday morning, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph, making it feel even cooler.
