‘Ice Cakes Not People’: Local bakery raises money to melt ICE

On March 21, a local bakery, Goldenrod Pastries, participated in a nationwide community bake sale called “ICE Cakes Not People.” All proceeds from the bake sale were donated to the Asian Community and Cultural Center.

Organizer Amy Larson, the CEO and founder of culinary retail brand Overseasoned, was inspired by her previous community bake sale events at her bakery, Matriarch, located in Rhode Island. Her previous bake sales helped to raise money for Planned Parenthood and food banks.

“With the occupation of ICE in Minneapolis in January and continuing on and the general growing kind of violence and unrest around it, I knew that I wanted to do some sort of activism,” Larson said…
