North Star Senior, Ann Chong, a Finalist for the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program

After being recognized for the award at the Spring Honors Convocation, Chong described the feeling as rewarding. “I feel proud to see my hard work pay off after all these years,” Chong remarks. She mentions how some of her biggest supporters were her family and counselor, Mr. Boile, claiming they, “encouraged [her] to take rigorous classes and aim for achievement.” Following high school, Chong plans to attend an out of state college. While she’s unsure of where, she knows she wants to major in Computer and Data Sciences. After she earns her degree, she plans to attend graduate school.

While the future is unset for Chong, it’s guaranteed to be filled with prosperity. Underclassmen who are looking to follow in these footsteps, should consider the advice Chong gave when asked what she would tell younger students just starting on their academic journey. “Managing time well is important because doing regular school work and extracurriculars can be a lot to balance. Learning time management early and being disciplined is crucial to achieve your goals.”…
