Four rural Nebraska churches adapt to pastoral shortage with lay leaders

SAUNDERS COUNTY and LANCASTER COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN)- Since 2011, pastor Kris Bohac has served two churches in Davey and near Ithaca. Last year, she added two more churches to her list.

“First of all, they’re all four about roughly the same size,” Bohac said.

Each congregation has about 15 to 20 people. The four churches are Bethlehem Lutheran, Zion Lutheran, Grace Lutheran and Czech Presbyterian. Bohac said laypeople are essential to making the arrangement work…
