Waverly, Nebraska’s city council approved a 195-foot cell tower near Lawson Park yesterday despite strong opposition from residents, according to KLKN-TV. The tower would be at the edge of the park near an area that features several ball fields and family recreation areas. The city’s Park and Recreation Department would get $1,000 per month in lease revenue, with a $5,000 stipend for each new carrier who joins the tower. Residents said they plan to appeal the decision.
