Former Lincoln special education teacher denied new trial, sentenced to probation

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A former Lincoln special education teacher convicted in a child abuse case was denied a new trial and sentenced on Wednesday.

Hilary Everett, 44, was found guilty of one count of felony child abuse resulting in no injury on Feb. 6.

Her defense requested a new trial, arguing that there were irregularities with the court proceedings, a misconduct of the jury, a verdict that was not supported by sufficient evidence and various other errors…
