LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Over the past four decades, thousands have come to the daVinci’s on 11th and G streets for their Easter lunch, but not one of them has ever spent a dime.
Saturday was the 41st Easter Sunday that the restaurant has opened it’s doors to the community for anyone to come in and eat completely free of charge.
Owner Kevin Knudsen said his family felt Easter was often overlooked as a day for many to serve their community, so they decided to do exactly that. Now, they average more than 500 guests in their 3-hour lunch window annually, dishing out their regular pizza, pasta and a holiday special: tables full of cupcakes for the taking, donated by community members…
