Man convicted after derailing train in Bennet, posting viral video online

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A man was convicted on Monday after derailing a train in Bennet in April 2024 and posting the video online.

According to court records, 19-year-old Zachary Hertzler was found guilty of one count of criminal mischief more than $5,000. Initially, Hertzler had been charged with two counts of criminal mischief, but one of those counts was dropped as part of a plea deal.

Hertzler faces up to two years in prison, 12 months of post-release supervision and a $10,000 fine…
