Severe Storms Produced Hail, Heavy Rain Thursday Afternoon in SE Nebraska

LINCOLN–(KFOR Apr. 23)–Severe thunderstorms packed with hail ranging from quarter-sized to golf ball-sized pelted areas of eastern Nebraska on Thursday afternoon, as a cold front moved through.

The National Weather Service posted severe thunderstorm warnings for Lincoln and Lancaster County during the 2pm and 3pm hours, with all of them being cancelled as of 3:45pm Thursday. A tornado watch was posted around 12pm Thursday and set to expire at 7pm Thursday. A tornado warning was posted for areas of Jefferson, Gage and Saline counties that expired at 3:15pm Thursday, with no confirmed touchdowns reported.

A storm that developed near Pleasant Dale in eastern Seward County dropped golf ball-sized hail near SW 126th and West Van Dorn in western Lancaster County around 2:45pm, while quarter-sized hail was reported near the Lincoln Airport and small hail was reported in areas of northeast Lincoln.
