“Why did my tornado siren go off if the warning isn’t near me?”

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A handful of tornado warnings popped up across eastern Nebraska, Sunday night, including some surrounding the capital city to the north and south.

And with any tornado warning, sirens sound off soon after.

For many, especially those closest to or inside to the warning zone, it’s an important heads-up to head inside and shelter in place to stay safe. But for some 10/11 viewers who reached out to us from the Highlands area of Lincoln, farther away from the warning zone, it was a bit confusing…
