April was good for commercial operators on the Arkansas River. Tonnage shipped for the month was up more than 30% compared with April 2025, with sand/gravel/rock shipments up almost 12% in the first four months of the year.
The U.S. Corps of Engineers reported 4.058 million tons shipped on the river between January and April, up 5% compared with 3.866 million in the same period of 2025. The gain is primarily from a significant rise in shipments between ports on the river.
