Authorities warn of dangers during summer driving period

EASTERN ARKANSAS — Law enforcement officials throughout eastern Arkansas are warning of what they call the “100 Deadliest Days” for teenage drivers.

They say the 100 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day see an increased number of automobile accidents, particularly those involving fatalities. That is due to a rising number of vehicles on the road during the summer months and more teenage drivers than at other parts of the year.

Local and state law enforcement are planning to increase their patrols and visibility over the summer. However, there are ways that drivers can help themselves and others stay safe. That includes avoiding texting while driving and staying focused on the road…
