Friends of Arkansas PBS announces meeting $2 million funding goal

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Co-chairs Gay White and Barbara Pryor of the Arkansas TV Foundation said on Wednesday that the group’s PBS Dues Fund has reached its funding goal.

Officials with the foundation said in May that the group was $271,288 short of its $2 million funding goal. At the time, they said that level of support came from 1,215 viewers in 64 Arkansas counties, and that annual funding had been pledged by Arkansas foundations totaling $1.5 million over the next three years.

The Wednesday announcement stated that contributions were from additional households and counties.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to Governor Sanders for her support, to the anonymous Arkansas funder who kickstarted the PBS Dues Fund, to the Walton Family Foundation, Schueck Family Foundation, Tyson Family Foundation, Roy and Christine Sturgis Charitable and Educational Trust, and Elaine and Claiborne Deming for their three-year commitments to the fund,” White and Pryor said in a joint statement. “And a final sincere thanks to Judy and Randy Wilbourn, the Knight Foundation, and the more than 1,500 other households, businesses, and foundations donating across all 75 counties in Arkansas.”…
