LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – People driving down West 9th Street may have noticed four new totems. They are the first historical ones to hit Little Rock, and it’s all thanks to Beyond The Divide.
Earnest Banks, the director, says there’s nothing else like it in the area. They’re aiming to make West 9th Street one of the most celebrated corridors in Little Rock.
On Thursday morning, the group celebrated the milestone with some city leaders.
“For Beyond The Divide, these markers represent a gateway into West Ninth Street, a welcoming experience for people that may not know very much about the history of West Ninth Street,” Banks said. “Or they may be visiting Little Rock. They’re just an opportunity to let people know, hey, this is West Ninth Street. Come and experience what it has to offer.”
