MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A nationwide health care fraud crackdown has resulted in charges against 455 defendants across 45 states and territories, including several cases in the Mid-South.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced Monday what it called one of the largest coordinated health care fraud takedowns in department history. Federal officials said the cases involve more than $6.5 billion in false and fraudulent claims.
“If you exploit patients for profit, if you steal Medicaid or Medicare dollars, if you treat taxpayer dollars as your personal bank account, we will investigate you.
