LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The group behind the proposed Arkansas Educational Rights Amendment, For AR Kids, announced on Friday that it fell short of the required almost 91,000 signatures needed to qualify for the 2026 ballot.
The proposed amendment would have, in part, required “every elementary or secondary school that receives any State or local funds to meet the identical Academic Standards and the identical Standards for Accreditation set forth by the General Assembly, or when authorized, by the Department of Education.”

We will continue working with parents, educators, community leaders, and policymakers to advance reforms that strengthen public education in all communities, promote accountability for taxpayer dollars, and expand opportunities for all students,” said Bill Kopsky, For AR Kids BQC Treasurer and Arkansas Public Policy Panel Executive Director.
