AGFC release 26-27′ fishing handbook; trout restrictions remain in place

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) released it 2026-27 Arkansas Fishing Guidebook on Wednesday with changes on access to AGFC sites and continued restrictions on trout fishing.

Historically the new guidebooks were released in January but the agency changed the date in an effort to streamline regulations. The changes laid out by the commission take effect on July 1 of each year, the same effective date as hunting regulation changes.

One of the changes applies to anyone accessing AGFC owned wildlife management access (WMA) areas across the state. Anyone 16 and older camping, hiking, birding, fishing, hunting or otherwise accessing WMAs or lakes must have either a valid hunting license, fishing license or AGFC WMA/Lake Conservation Permit.
