FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Tax-Free Weekend, or the annual Sales Tax Holiday, will soon be back in Arkansas.
The Sales Tax Holiday allows shoppers to purchase items such as school supplies, art supplies, clothing, and certain electronic devices without paying sales tax. The current state sales and use tax is 6.5%.
This year, Tax-Free Weekend runs from 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2.

Here is what is (and is not) eligible to be purchased without having to pay sales tax during the two-day period:
The Sales Tax Holiday was established in 2011 with the signing of Act 757. It allows the following:
- Clothing and footwear if the sales price is less than one hundred dollars $100 per item
- Clothing accessories and equipment if the sales price is less than fifty dollars $50 per item
- School supplies
- School art supplies
- School instructional materials
