How many attendees are expected at Little Rock’s reentry fair?
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — For people coming home after incarceration, landing a job can feel like trying to start over with one hand tied behind their back. The city of Little Rock is aiming to make that restart a little smoother with its third annual employment and resource fair, designed to connect people with second-chance employers and practical help all in one place.
Reentry coordinators Shaneka Jones and Dwight Pridgeon said the transition back into the workforce can be tough for several reasons, including stigma and the challenge of rebuilding trust. “First of all, it’s difficult because they got to develop the trust. They got to feel wanted,” Pridgeon said. “It’s stereotype, for one, for a reason why, and people-it’s so hard for people that’s in the free world or don’t trust them. So they got to build up that trust.”…
