Dashcam Footage Shows Former Arkansas State Police Corporal Charged With DWI After Crashing His Squad Car Near Monticello During a Roadside Sobriety Test

MONTICELLO, AR — New dashcam video shows the moment a former Arkansas State Police corporal crashed his squad car off U.S. Highway 278 near Monticello after police said he had been driving while intoxicated. The footage, obtained by KATV, shows Corporal John Parker, 45, weaving between lanes and the median before driving into oncoming traffic and ending up off the side of the highway.

Parker was arrested Aug. 21 after the wreck. He avoided hitting other vehicles and poles before stopping in a nearby gravel parking lot. Another state trooper responded to the scene and later charged Parker with driving while intoxicated and prohibited driving after a field sobriety test indicated impairment.

The dashcam footage captures Parker losing control on the roadway and moving across traffic in a way that police said put him and others at risk. The video shows the squad car leaving its lane, crossing the median, and then heading into opposing traffic before the crash…
