NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — A little “Witam”, that’s Polish for hello, is a pretty good way to kick off a weekend that’s all about food, music and community in Central Arkansas.
The 36th annual Polish Karnawal is happening this weekend at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School and parish in North Little Rock, with organizers Alisa Tubbs and Brenda Hiegel, inviting the public to come hungry and stay awhile.
The event started as a school fundraiser, and it’s still doing that job decades later. Brenda Hiegel, principal of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School, said families at Immaculate Heart of Mary School created the Karnawal as a way to raise money for the school, and “all proceeds go to our school.” She said it’s a joint effort between the parish and the school and has grown beyond the school community into a large local event…
