SALINE COUNTY, Ark. – Saline County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed on Tuesday that a sheriff’s office detective responding to the scene of a deadly fight on Saturday night has resigned after receiving a DWI.
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Detective Christopher K. McCauley was given a breath alcohol test (BAT) after a second detective smelled alcohol on his breath at the scene. The BAT showed a reading of 0.154, nearly twice the 0.08 threshold.

McCauley was relieved of duty as soon as the deputy smelled the alcohol, sheriff’s officials confirmed. Officials confirmed that McCauley was relieved of duty, turned over to the Arkansas State Police and charged with DWI.
