Jacksonville High School opens on-campus restaurant run by students

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – Jacksonville High School is taking home economics classes to a whole new level, holding the grand opening for their student-run restaurant “Simply Delicious.”

Xavier Greene, the culinary instructor at CHS and head chef at Simply Delicious, says the class periods are structured much like restaurant shifts.

“Students come in 2nd, 3rd period, they’re pretty much prepping out the service, getting the salad station ready, baking anything that we need to be baked, probably cooking off a couple things like chicken for alfredo and things of that nature, making sauces,” Greene said. “Then the 3rd, 4th period comes in and they are actually the ones that are participating in service. They get to greet the customers, they get to take orders, they get to field the orders, cook the orders, plate the orders, so it’s fulfilling,” Greene said.
