Two illegal aliens have been arrested in Searcy County, and one of them tried to flee from a deputy, causing injuries during the pursuit. Being held in the Searcy County Jail is 20-year-old David Martinez of Little Rock. Released to immigration officials is 22-year-old Josue Guevara of Little Rock.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy spotted a vehicle with a headlight out in Leslie in the early morning hours Tuesday and made a traffic stop.
Martinez was the driver, but did not have a driver’s license or passport, nor did he have insurance or registration for the vehicle. The passenger, Guevara, did not have an ID or passport either. Martinez said he is from Nicaragua and Guevara said he is from Honduras. The deputy suspected the two might be undocumented aliens and contacted a U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) agent.
The ICE agent requested to speak to both men. After the conversation, it was determined both were in the United States illegally, and the agent told the deputy their agency wanted to extradite them both…
