Construction of the almost $300-million Interstate 49 bridge across the Arkansas River is nearing the halfway point and ahead of schedule as state and federal officials focus on funding the next sections of the interstate.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy toured the bridge project Monday (Oct. 5) with U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, R-Rogers, and Arkansas transportation officials, saying the federal government is committed to working with the state to continue construction beyond the current project.
