Thursday, January 25: Just a few more gloomy days before we turn sunny

Dense fog has once again developed statewide in Missouri and Arkansas this morning and will once again linger into the midday hours. Rain is likely beginning this morning in the southwest and moving northeast through the day. The rain may help reduce the fog at times but plan on another damp and dreary day.

Rain should wrap up in central Missouri this afternoon and although we’re dry tonight we’ll still be mostly cloudy. Patchy fog is possible again tonight into early Friday morning but isn’t expected to linger as long into the day tomorrow as we’ve seen recently. Friday will be another cloudy but mild day with temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s.

A final round of rain will slip through the Ozarks early Saturday morning into the afternoon. Additional rainfall amounts through Saturday will be highest across southern and southeast Missouri and northern Arkansas where totals will top another half an inch. A few wet snowflakes are possible mixed with rain on Saturday but surface temperatures will be in the low 40s so no impacts are expected.
