LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A recent appointee to the Arkansas Board of Corrections by Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has resigned amid accusations that he was fired from a police department in 2018 for violating law enforcement code of ethics after an investigation into sexual misconduct with a minor.
Jamol Jones shared a statement on Friday evening stating that he would be resigning from his position.
“Effective today, February 2, 2024, I am resigning from the Post Prison Transfer Board. It has been the honor of my life to serve the people of Arkansas in this capacity,” the statement read. “I am grateful to the Sanders administration for this opportunity, but this decision is being made in the best interest of me and my family.”
The resignation comes after a recent controversy that stems from city records that state Jones was fired from the Benton Police Department in 2018 for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.
