Sherwood police investigating after body discovered in car

SHERWOOD, Ark. – Authorities in Sherwood said police officers responding to reports of a crash Thursday night discovered a body in a car.

Officials with the Sherwood Police Department said the officers were heading to the area of East Woodruff and Walker Creek Drive just before 7:45 p.m. after getting reports of the crash.

Dispatchers said they received reports of gunfire while the officers were on their way to the scene, adding that only one vehicle was left at the scene of the gunfire.

When the officers arrived in the area they found a single vehicle with a body inside. The officers secured the scene and detectives arrived to start their investigation.

Officials said the identity of the victim in this case is being withheld until the family can be notified.
