Arkansas Game and Fishing Commission gives progress update on Lake Conway renovations

CONWAY, Ark. – Lake Conway is still in the process of being drained, but the goal is to start construction on access and habitats this spring.

Of the 75 years of the life of the lake, 40% of the water had been reduced due to soil compaction, but Arkansas Game and Fishing Commission leaders put a five-year plan in place to renovate the lake and make improvements.

Some of the improvements include repairs to the dam, and improving infrastructure by creating boat ramps, fish habitats and fishing piers.

Trey Reid, commission communications specialist, said they have also factored in the weather and there will be no setbacks because of it.
