Little Rock church’s food pantry sees high demand

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – For the past several years, a Little Rock church has been trying to help out the community with an outside food pantry box but they never expected the need to be as great as it is. They say their biggest issue is keeping the pantry stocked.

Members at Shiloh Seventh-Day Adventist Church say in 2021 they decided to create a food pantry box in the church parking lot. They call it the Blessing Box.

“I love the Blessing Box,” Tatyana Olyinloye said.

They said the box has quickly become a staple in the community.

“When we put food in there it’s almost like a call goes out, it’s been restocked and people come immediately to get food,” Gwendlyon Brown said.

Brown said no matter if it’s in minutes or hours after they restock it the shelves become bare once again.

“We thought we would just help the homeless population around here, it really broke our hearts when we found out how many families in the area needed us,” said Brown.
